Along the lines of some of my recent articles, which I could group under the title of ‘Idiots: Why They Should Not Have Pets,’ we have a case where Darwin almost got his man. Perhaps he should have, but modern science intervened.

Matt Wilkenson, of Oregon origins, evidently had some things in his house. He had snakes, he had friends, he had beer, he had a mouth, and he had a party. At which point did he decide that all of those things had to come together at the same instant? According to our friends at the UPI, Matt said “he'd been drinking with friends and apparently wasn't thinking with a clear head.” To impress his friends, he took his Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and inserted it into his gaping maw face first.
