Science that Works

If this was on another site other than our friends over at Discovery, I would say it was a hoax:

“Trapped inside a Lebanese weevil covered in ancient Burmese amber, a tiny colony of bacteria and yeast has lain dormant for up to 45 million years. A decade ago Raul Cano, now a scientist at the California Polytechnic State University, drilled a tiny hole into the amber and extracted more than 2,000 different kinds of microscopic creatures.”

Wow. THAT is science that works. It is amazing enough that the “Jurassic Park” style of getting the yeast actually worked, but in a truly American spirit, the guy decides to make beer out of it. You just have to love that.

Mmmmmmmm....beer

I can imagine other uses of this technology. We now know, for example, that the T-Rex is genetically very similar to the modern chicken. See the link? How about something like ‘Kentucky Fried Rex’or ‘Bronto Wings’? Think about how many people you could feed with just one medium sized Triceratops! This could be a big step for the whole bar-b-que industry as well. The only thing is that I think I need a bigger smoker if this gets easy to do……

Microbrew

Limited brew run, indeed.  :-)

yep

Once every million years or so?

Nihil est ad omnia parte beatum.

Huh?

Did he really make beer out of it?

Ah, Phelonius.  Welcome back.

Good to be back

HEHEE.....like I say, if it did not come from a reputable source I would not believe it. In fact, I am still wary of this one.

Nihil est ad omnia parte beatum.

Hey....

Jesus preferred his bread unleavened anyway. I'd rather have some crackers with beer than bread and water any day.

Well not exactly

The jews never preferred unleavened bread, but they ate that and bitter herbs on Passover

to commemorate the suffering. Jesus mostly ate bread like the other jews of his time, with

plenty of leavening. If you doubt that, check out the very Jewish recipe of sweet-bread.

Nihil est ad omnia parte beatum.

uh, it was a joke. I don't

uh, it was a joke. I don't care if they ate hot pockets washed down with snapple, ya nerd.

Well....of course! Is there

Well....of course!

Is there a question here??

Nihil est ad omnia parte beatum.

priorities

I guess making beer is higher on the priority list than say, BREAD!
