Dictator wanted - apply within

I'll make no attempt to come across as a typical American when it comes to political issues. Be fully aware that I believe that ultimately the only form of government that has any chance of supplying the kind of leadership and clarity of vision that this country and it's citizens deserve is that of an absolute dictatorship. The only man suited to take on this role of course is a forward thinking man of conviction and a keen understanding of the needs and motivations of his fellow man. Now most Americans aren't visionary enough to grasp the inevitable truth, so while my robot army is under construction I am forced to work within the current less optimal system of rule and I've had a few thoughts on the current race for the presidency.
The place to start would seem to be with the system itself. Ah, the two party system. Now this I get. Such a brilliant system, dividing all issues into only two possible positions (if you can call being against what ever the other group says as an actual position in itself). This over simplification of every issue creates a reactionary environment that successfully keeps the plebes in line, rallying in rabid throngs of parroting halfwits. These aping simpletons see themselves as involved, informed and engaged while their actual choices and freedoms are taken away. Nothing rallies the troops like a common enemy.
Now, let's run through the candidates. We'll start with the democrats and make this a two part post.
Playin' the cards you're dealt

It's not everyone that knows their fate, knows what will come in the end, knows the final image that will fade out of view as their heart spasms it's final sputtering beat.... but I do.
When we were young we all thought we were immortal, untouchable little horny supermen that knew it all and would never die. We'd dance on the blade of a chainsaw if the notion struck us, confident that the sun would rise tomorrow just as it had all our short lives. I knew this as well as any, but for different reasons than most. The image of my ultimate passing was plastered on my mind. Like seeing your parents having sex, it was always there... disturbingly showing me the unthinkable.
Life has a different meaning to those that know the end. The fear of failure is gone, the anxiety of life is made manageable. Yet, within this the highs are dulled along with the lows. Life all becomes a pale shadow of the vision of your demise. There is no sweet without sour, no contentment without fear.
The day I learned of my demise was in many ways the beginning of my death. Like an amputee that can no long run, a part of me was cut away, tossed into a bio-hazard bag and thrown aside. I have limped through life ever since.

What Not to Wear
Submitted by Sal on Wed, 09/12/2007 - 13:27.These days with casual work environments and churches filled with jean clad worshipers you might get the impression that there are no rules when it comes to our personal dress. This of course would be a mistake and in the case of this particular Texas fan, a very painful mistake indeed.
This does bring to mind the old saying... "The only two things from Texas are steers and queers, and I don’t see any horns on you"
The Jefferson Hour
Submitted by Sal on Tue, 09/11/2007 - 01:18.There are few good things about a weekly 10 hour round trip commute between my home and my apartment. But, one thing that that it has given me is time, time to listen. From Books such as Guns, Germs and Steel to radio programs such as 'Piano Jazz' and most interestingly 'The Jefferson Hour'. TJH is best described by it's homepage...
The goal of each of The Thomas Jefferson Hour® programs is to tease out the truth of each topic in the tradition of Thomas Jefferson - the founding father educated in Enlightenment ideals and considered by many to be the visionary of the founding of our nation.
Humanities scholar and author, Clay S. Jenkinson, adopts the persona of Jefferson each week to comment on current events and answer questions you may have about Jefferson's thoughts on any and all topics. Clay has portrayed Thomas Jefferson for more than two decades. He is the recipient of the National Endowment for the Humanities highest award, then called the Charles Frankel Award, for his humanities-based first person interpretation methodology.
I highly suggest swinging by The Jefferson Hour website and taking a listen to a few of the programs. Let me know what you think.
Justice at the tip of a boot

I'm no fan of chickens. They stink, they're stupid and while the butchering of any animal can't be called fun, chicken butchery is on a level with inner city free clinic work. However, until I figure out how to get my rabbits to lay eggs I'll have chickens. That being the case I was determined to have the best small holder chickens I could find, no battery born monstrosities for me. I was only interested in meat quality and mothering ability.
